When someone says CAVEMAN what do we think of?
Fred Flintstone, Caverines, our Ancestors, "first people on earth", stone, caves, language such as 'oooga chaacha' etc right?
Well for my assignment on Archaeology and scientific methods, i chose to study Neandertals, or Cave People and on studying them i have found out alot more then just societies stereotypes on them.
With me today I have brought two things to present my findings, one being a Diorama and the other being a paper mache head. I'll star with the Diorama first.
In 1856 on a normal August day, workers were mining in a cave in the Neander Valley near Dusseldorf, Germany. While digging they stumbled across some bones, some of which being a : skull, thigh bones, parts of pelvis, a few ribs, arm and shoulder bones.
That was the first findings of nearly a whole Neandertal skeleton.
In this Diorama it has the Neander Valley on top, then coming underground in the cave where miners were working. As you can see the miners are huddled around looking confused at bones they have dug up...
