John Q.
With all kinds of publicity centered around the movie John Q, I expected it to be a well thought-out movie that would be an audience pleaser, but instead I was disappointed. I thought that John Q was not as good of a movie as it was advertised to be.
John Q's story is centered around steel factory worker John Quincy Archibald, played by Denzel Washington, a middle classed family man who has been hit hard by the economy's ideas to move factories to Mexico. Despite all of the cut backs the family has made, they were doing well with what they had, until one day while at a little league game, Q's son, Mike, collapses. He is rushed to the hospital, where they quickly learn that he has a very serious heart condition where his heart is three times the normal size, and without a heart transplant, he will die within a matter of weeks. John believes that they will be okay and put right on the donor list because "I have insurance" (John Q.), but come to find out that since his hours have been sliced, so has his insurance benefits, and his HMO will not cover such a costly operation...
