Juarez is considered a major transit point into the United States. Its close proximity to El Paso, combined with the fact that it is a global city, adds to the power it has in distributing goods to our country. This would be a positive thing if all of Juarez's exports were legal and helpful to the economy of the U.S. and to Juarez itself. However, from this city comes the atrocious and unlawful treatment of women, with blatant inhumane regard to them economically, physically, and emotionally.
Every day in Juarez, women are kidnapped from their homes and their streets and sold into slavery. The fault does not fall upon the shoulders of one organization only, but on many. The multinational corporations within Juarez, for one, should address the link between the economic repression of women and the low importance female life has there.
