Female Aggression
Reena Virk was a fourteen-year-old girl who was brutally murdered for spreading rumors about another female. The perpetrators consisted of seven females and one male (Graydon 1). To most, it is common knowledge that females are more harsh towards each other than males are, but what people do not know is that there is scientific research proving psychological reasons for the aggression among females. Some researchers believe that competition or aggression is a survival instinct among women. Others think that girls are socially molded to be belligerent and therefore, aggression is an inescapable action. Finally, researchers have been led to believe that low self-esteem generates animosity and rivalry.
Evolutionary biologists have investigated females and came to the conclusion that aggression is a survival instinct. First, researchers have found that competition and aggression have come about through natural selection. Competitive women are thriving, because they are the ones who are reproducing. In addition, the reason most women are aggressive is because the non-competitive ones are slowly dying out...
