Rather than the traditional method of appraisals, which would include having a supervisor of an employee critique the employee for past performance, there are many organizations in today's working environment that are leaning towards a new evaluation process. This evaluation process is called 360-degree feedback. 360- degree feedback is collecting perceptions about a person's behavior and the impact of that behavior from the person's boss(es), diret reports, colleagues, fellow members of project teams, and customers. The impact of 360-degree feedback can be a very positive one. Not only is the employee being appraised, but also the employee is able to critique and praise upper management, colleagues, fellow members of project teams, and even customers when appropriate. With the right strategies and tools, 360-degree feedback can be successful.
