The Gospel Of Mark
It seems that Mark's Gospel could have been the first Gospel written. Mark may be able to take the credit of shaping Christian theology into a story of Jesus. Mark's writings trace Jesus from his first encounter with the Baptist near the Jordan River during his mission in Galilee to the death and eventual resurrection. It's also understood that Mark was not only out to create a sort of journal of Jesus and his teachings but to account for all of his goodness to show the memories to new readers in hopes that they would allow Jesus to grace their lives.
Roman Christians were most likely Mark's main audience. This is evident after the persecution of Nero, when the community was still suffering from the tyrant's oppression. Some reacted with heroic martyrdom while others ran away in terror to Nero's attacks. Quite possibly the most powerful story written by Mark is that about the crucifixion of Jesus. It teaches about the disciples who struggled to remain faithful. This would be an excellent teaching for the early Christian Church...
