Sex and vampires have always seemed to mix well. Sexual roles in women in Bram Stoker’s Dracula are presented in two ways: There is the sexual being created by Dracula’s vampire influence. Dracula’s kiss makes women to become sexual beings. Using their sharp teeth to penetrate men, they switch the traditional gender roles and place men in the passive position usually shown for women. When Mina drinks from Dracula’s chest is the strongest example of this; where the reader to this point is used to Dracula doing the “biting”, and suddenly Mina can bite a male. Both Lucy and Mina, when they have a relationship with Dracula, become sexual beings, opposite from when they are mortals and are forced to obey the social boundaries of their society.
