A Database is any collection of data or information that is specially organized for rapid search and retrieval by a computer. Databases are structured to facilitate the storage, retrieval, modification, and deletion of data in conjunction with various data-processing operations. Databases can be stored on magnetic disk or tape, optical disk, or some other secondary storage.
The database software that is currently being utilized by TMSEL is called Bosanova. This database allows employees to have access to a wide range of information relevant to employee's retirement information. This database is use to store namesaddresses, phone numbers, job codes, salaries, contribution information, retirement information, spouse information and etc. This program controls payroll information as it pertains to each specific employee. The program matches their salaries with the corresponding social security number ensuring the correct payroll information is allocated to the right employee. The payroll information is transmitted from the accounting department to the retirement department. In addition, this program also has the ability to perform retirement calculations, as well as generate reports used by upper management to analyze the progress of the retirement department...
