Why do men fail to communicate with women? A question that most of us tend to ask. Deborah Tannen, in her article titled "Sex, Lies and Conversation: Why Is It So Hard for Men and Women to talk to Each Other?" published in Washington Post, takes a new look at the reasons that provoke the gap of communication between men and women. She comments on the existence of male and female style of communication. She indicates that gender differences influenced in the way both of them communicate. Also, she believed that childhood socialization is the main reason leading to a conflict between men and women later in life. Finally, she emphasizes that once these differences understood both men and women would be able to interact effectively. I believe strongly that Deborah's theory about differences in childhood socialization is the main reason that makes male-female conversation be seen as cross-cultural communication.
