Depression
“I’m depressed” is a term which many use flippantly if they are feeling a little gloomy or when they are simply not being intellectually or physically stimulated and especially by teenagers often over dramatising a situation. The term depression does not refer to a problem, which can be remedied by any single physical activity or completion of a single task. Depression is an illness, which requires professional help. ... Ten percent of those between eighteen and twenty-five, suffer from depression (Focuses 1998) and a s a result 500,000 people within this age group attempt suicide each year. These statistics alone were reason enough for me to find out more about the illness, its effects, detection and treatment.
