1a. The speaker may be a lover trying to discourage himself from pursuing an unavailable woman because in the poem it gives reference to diamonds and also many times when a man is pursueing a woman it can be considered a hunt.
b. If the deer is really a woman, the impression of her the poem creates is one that is unavailable to him and because of that she is even more desirable.
2. "Caesar" in line 13 is Henry VIII
