Child Obesity is Taking over America
Recent studies indicate that childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions and is out of control. The outbreak of childhood obesity has lead to drastic increase in diseases commonly associated with excessive weight gain. A recent study suggests one in four overweight children is already showing early signs of type II diabetes. The facts are stunning. Between 1982 and 1994, childhood obesity increased over 12%. The cost of fighting obesity has been rising rapidly in the past decade. The Hospital costs associated with childhood obesity rising from $35 Million (1979) to $127 Million (1999). With the growing concern of childhood obesity, there are many questions on most Americans mind. The first step to stopping obesity is to understand what causes is, how it can be combated, and just how big of a problem obesity really is becoming.
