Caring in nursing.
The nursing profession has undergone many changes throughout history. In particular, the concept of caring. To this day there is much debate as to whether caring remains central to nursing. To really explore the concept of caring and discuss this topic, a definition is needed. According to the Oxford English Dictionary (1970) the word "care," means an object or matter of concern, or solicitude. On the other hand I believe that there cannot really be a distinct definition of care as it is so multifaceted. All people have different views of what care means and there are too many different forms of nursing within the profession that each has its own definition of caring. My argument is that the value of caring is not the major value or "essence" of nursing but is one of many important values such as organization, planning, teamwork and knowledge that correspond and interconnect to form the nursing profession.
