ABORTION BECOMES SOCIETY'S NEW HAVEN
Since the day mankind was placed on this Earth, reproduction has been the primary objective of mankind, as if it were just another animal, oblivious to the big picture and things of higher momentary priority. Under the understanding that some children would not survive to have children of their own, it was thought a necessity to have several children. With the advancement of modern medicine, people now live two or three times longer than was expected only a few centuries ago. With this advancement has even come the scare of over-population of Earth. But, with the loss of the necessity to have many children and the advancement of modern medicine, pregnancies can now be aborted safely and ethically.
THE MORAL CONTROVERSY
Abortion is a medical procedure in which an unborn child's development is effectively terminated and the potential child is killed. For a very long time, an abortion was illegal unless the mother's health was in danger. There are really three questions that must be asked of abortion. The first being, if a woman finds herself pregnant, what it the best (or least worst) solution for her and the potential newborn that she is carrying? The second being, If a woman finds herself pregnant, discusses her options with her physician or counselor, and decides to have an abortion, should the state override her decision and prevent her from having an abortion?..
