Existentialism is a philosophical movement that originated in the 20th century. It emphasizes things such as individual freedom, choice, as well as human existence. A theme in existential theory is choice. In the view of most existentialists, humanity's primary distinction is the freedom of choice. Most existentialists believe that each and every member of the human race makes choices that create his or her own existence. Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus are two of these existentialists who believe in the freedom of human choice. These two, along with many other existentialists believe that many religions constrain this freedom of choice.
