In 1861, his red-copper haired Irish mistress, Joanna Hiffernan, posed for him in Paris for “The White Girl” which was later called Symphony in White, No. 1: The White Girl. She would soon become the manager of Whistler’s business affairs. In 1865, Whistler met Albert Moore who together they explored the ideals of ‘Art for Art’s sake’. ...
