Nick Hornby was born in 1957. About a Boy is his third book and his second novel. His novels all became best-sellers and two of them, About a Boy and High Fidelity were even basis for a movie. Nick Hornby lives in north London
Summary
Will, trying to find women to sleep with, joins a single parents group. He meets Marcus and Fiona, his depressive mother who tried to commit suicide. After Marcus' futile efforts to bring Fiona and Will together, Will helps Marcus to be a normal child. In school, Marcus gets to know Ellie, an older girl who also tries to help Marcus.
Will also starts to act his age, wants to have a family a real, not an invented one. He falls I love with Rachel who he met at a new year's eve party.
Fiona, Marcus' mother, who wants to live again, is positively surprised by the change of her son...
