The Thirty Years War, lasting from 1618-1648 brought brutality into Europe and caused major hatred between the Catholics and the Protestants. The war was mainly focused on decreasing the power of the Hapsburgs, and converting non-Catholics. Due to the peace of Westphalia it had affected many European countries and one of the most affected was France who became Europe's most powerful country (Davis et al 391). The Thirty Years war had four phases and each included different types of beliefs and kingdoms, empires or countries ("Cyberspace", npag). The last hope to have peace was the peace of Westphalia all though it didn't have a very impacting affect and tensions still remained between the countries.
The war was mainly focused on decreasing the power of the Hapsburgs, and converting non-Catholics (Davis et al 391). The Hapsburgs were one of the wealthiest and most powerful dynasties, and consisted of the Austrian and Spanish Hapsburgs (Rempel, npag). As the Hapsburgs, the superpower of Europe grew even larger the other powerful countries of Europe needed to put an end to them and that's how a war broke out between the western European countries. Even though this war was meant to decrease the Hapsburgs power it was also focused on the huge religious differences of Protestant and Catholics (Herrmann, npag). The country who decided to put an end to the Hapsburgs super-power was France (Davis et al 379)...
