Distance learning is a growing method of alternative education for students. It has some desirable motivational factors, such as being able to set your own schedule, but it also has some unique problems. One of the problems of distance learning on the internet is being able to access course material. There are also issues with some of the software needed for the courses. Another problem is network difficulties. One major problem for the student is not being in a classroom situation with immediate access to the teacher. Distance learinng can be a little stressful and overwhelming on an individual basis, and will take a huge commitment from the student to succeed.
Growth in distance learning programs over the internet can be attributed not only to the vast number of students and adults enrolling in these classes, but also to the ability to share resources, and from the cooperation between the school districts today.
