The Middle East is built on a magnificent legacy of civilizations dating back to ancient times. The Middle East is notorious for: the study of science, the arts, written language, mathematics, and most recently, religion. Today, the Middle East is home to three major world religions. From the clashes of these three religions, the Western media has alluded to the assumption that "jihad" means holy war. Yet, closer examination of the Islamic faith proves what jihad means to Muslims.
Many Westerners hear the word, "jihad" and associate this word with "holy war". In reality, the Muslim faith has no such word with that definition. The word jihad does exist, but is taken out of context by many. In the Islamic faith the word jihad means, "literally striving or struggling". Many Muslims take this word to mean motivation...
