The Slavery Debate: From the "Nat Turner Rebellion" Point of View
At that time in history Americans were divided up with their own beliefs of the slavery debate. Northerners were fighting to abolish slavery while the southerners strongly supported slavery. Since the northerners did not depend much on agriculture, slavery to them was not a necessity, rather it was a luxury that was beginning to be rejected throughout the north. Americans in the south largely depended on the slaves to help them grow crops of valuable products. When the " Nat Turner Rebellion" became public, this was what both sides had to say.
Mr. Turner the slave who started this rampage admitted to killing around 50 white people, including a small baby. He said that God told him to kill the serpents, which he believed to have been the white southerners. He even admitted to robbing the homes of the families he killed. Mr...
