Who was the youngest President ever elected? Who won the election by the skin of his teeth? Who made these words famous…. “Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.” Who was assassinated after serving as President for only 3 years? John F. Kennedy! JFK came into the race for Presidency in January of 1960. He had been a Senator that supported most of the Democratic policies on Foreign Relations. He accepted the Supreme Courts decision of 1954 on desegregation of the nation’s schools. The Democratic Party chose him to run with Lyndon Johnson after defeating Senator Huber H. Humphrey Jr. in a harsh primary. When he accepted the nomination he said, “We stand today on the edge of a New Frontier.” This gave the name to his program.
