The Heroic Green Knight
The story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight can be looked at in many ways. The general approach toward the tale is that of a knight that proves himself worthy after trials and tribulations, the greatest being facing the evil Green Knight. I look at this story in a completely different light. I believe that the story shows almost the opposite. I believe that Sir Gawain is not a respectable character at all. He is a knight under King Arthur. King Arthur's knights were not only good at fighting, but gentlemen as well. The character of King Arthur's knights was considered prestigious. The Green Knight is the true character in the play by reinstating this sense of chivalry back into King Arthur's knights.
