Violent video games influence child behavior
Over the past few decades, video games have become increasingly popular, with nearly every child in the United States having owned some type of computer or video game system (Video 1). Many adults say video games are harmless and are a normal part of childhood, but some of the games of today can give children the wrong idea without the parent even knowing about it.
Research has lead to constructive uses of video games in the fields of education and medicine, but there are some studies that observers find troubling (1). A study done in 1998 revealed 80 percent of the games today contain some type of graphic violence and 21 percent of those contain violence against women (1).
