Wine is a very important part of French Culture. Wine making in France dates all the way back to pre-Roman times. France is a leading wine producing country along with several others including Spain and Italy. Wine comes from the juice of freshly picked grapes, after natural or cultured yeasts have converted the grape sugars into alcohol during the fermentation process.
Wines can be classified according to color as red, blush, or white. Color of wines depends on whether the skins of red grapes are allowed to ferment with the juice. The taste of wines can be described as sweet or dry. Sweet wines contain a lot of sugar where as dry wines contain no sugar.
Wine choosing should be a very personal experience. A wine that may be liked by one person may not be liked by another because the wine creates different sensations...
