The Darker Side of Soma
In Brave New World soma was extremely important to everyone's life. They all took it on a daily basis as they were accustomed to doing. At times it didn't seem to do as much good as it was supposed to. Most people took it for pleasure or stress-relief, but others were forced to take it as a cause of their death. Soma seemed a little too good to be true. After taking soma they would not wake up the next morning feeling ill. It would also not do any harmful damage to the body.
Soma is defined as an intoxicating or hallucinogenic drug used as an offering to the Hindu Gods and consumed by participants in Vedic ritual sacrifices. If it was used in ritual sacrifices then there must be some down side to this miraculous drug.
