When the book 'Looking For Alibrandi' was released its success led to a movie based on its storyline. Though once you had read the book and watched the movie it could be seen that both differentiated between each other in a few areas. In the following essay I will focus on three important differences comparing movie to book. The major changes in Josie's visual representation will be outlined. Then the question will be asked do these changes affect her character and perspective?
In the movie Josie always thinks her culture constricts her with rules and regulations and Jacob doesn't really argue with her about it. In the book Jacob says to Josie that she lives her own life and makes her own rules and Josie realises that in a way Jacob is correct and in some ways a lot wiser than she is. Josie also decides that she is in love with Jacob after this meeting of passionate embraces and her perspective on how attractive she is questioned. She used to think she was ordinary looking but if Jacob Coote is attracted to her maybe she was wrong. In the book Josie's relationship with Jacob has greater depth and as a result it has a greater impact on the development of her character...
