Baseball and society are a reflection of each other. Over the past four months, stories about steroid use in baseball have been at the forefront of news and media outlets. Fifteen years ago, there were reports of steroids in football. Olympic Games are notorious for some type of drug scandal every year. In sports, there are people who will do what they need to do to perform, to be better than the next guy. As a child, you want your heroes to play forever, put up huge numbers and win games. You want them to win the championship so you can celebrate and flaunt your team. Then when something happens like the steroid stories, most of America goes into shock and disbelief. The media make these guys out to be creatures from another planet, possessing abilities unknown to the regular fan. Then, as a story about steroid use cracks, the media portray the players as the alien of evil...
