In order to understand the history of mankind, it is absolutely crucial to acknowledge the development of societies, culture and the environment in which great empires first began. One particular land, the land of Egypt has quite an interesting story to tell. Egypt, which is located in the northeastern corner of the African continent, has survived solely due to its natural environment, more specifically, water provided by the Nile River. The water of the Nile River gave life to a virtually rainless region.
As told by historians, Egyptian life was dictated by the Nile's flood cycles (the Nile River typically began flooding its banks in June and would stop in September). The inevitable result of the Nile River floods was a miracle. The flood cycle encouraged the land to fertilize and in turn, the earth became rich silt. In general it is the water of the great Nile River that gave life to this great land.
