After reading only the 2nd page of this book I already felt uncomfortable because nobody should ever be treated in that manner, always fighting just to stay alive, especially when you are still young. ... In this chapter we get told of Dave’s hardship of just getting food to eat, and I mean food as in basic food like scraps and hard frozen hot dogs. ... So when father isn’t around mother starts her torment worse than ever, she starts off with setting tighter time limits to complete chores and if they weren’t finished it meant no food and for 10 days straight that was the outcome, no food.
