There are two types of baptism available today for Christians, infant baptism and believer's baptism. All Baptisms are preformed with water it is the sign that someone has turned from their bad ways and has accepted that they can only do this with the help of God and his Holy Spirit by the washing away of all their sins. Baptism is the sign that someone belongs to Christ. That is why baptism is sometimes known as christening. Baptism is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist. People get baptised to show they belong to the Christian faith. They promise that they will try to live in a Christian way. Usually it is a baby getting baptised. A baby can't make any promises, so the parents and Godparents make the promises for the baby...
