Thomas Dolby Robertson Entertainment Affairs 5403 East Blvd Los Angeles, CA 46932 Dear Mr. Thomas Robertson: He was one cool cat. Sitting there with his eyes closed, indulging in his blue headphones with a satisfying smirk across his green face. But no longer does Napster’s trademark kitty have anything to smile about. Napster was the first file sharing site to be shut down by the Recording Industry Association of America. They continue to bring lawsuits to music lovers everywhere, and it must be stopped. Since 1999 people around the world have been illegally sharing music files across the web. It takes around an average of 3 minutes to download a song, and entire albums are easily downloadable for free. This is obviously taking money away from the Recording Industry and all the musical artists through decreasing record sales. As of September 2003, they have decided to fight back. The latest wave of lawsuits hit 534 people on January 21, 2004.
