The religion called Judaism holds their center of worship in temples and synagogues. Any one Jewish or not, is welcome to attend these services at any time. I asked my Jewish friend Mike, to include me in his temple’s next service. He was more than happy to invite me along, and guide me during my visit. We went to his Reform Synagogue located at 131 Remsen street, in Brooklyn Height. In prepartion for visiting the synangoue, I was told to dress appropriately. Your clothing had to cover your shoulders and back, and go past your knee’s . Being that this temple was Reform and not Conservative, pants are also acceptable for women. One woman had a lace covering on her head, though they are not required to wear one. Most of the women wore long skirts or dresses with long jackets in dark colors. The children as well, were dressed conservatively in dresses and slacks. All of the men wore dark slacks, and some wore prayer shawls. The temple was plain brick on the outside and there was a stair case leading up to the door. Upon entering, their were wooden bench seats on either side of an aisle leading to a platform altar. Their were large, plain windows on both walls. The temple floor had a red carpet.
