"After Apple Picking" is a very deep and complex yet intellectually stimulating poem. I am not entirely sure that it is really about picking apples at all or even about the need for rest and drifting off the slumber after a long hard day of laboring in the fields. The one thing that I am sure of is that it is not about picking apples in the literal sense. The poem is full of literary devices that add an aura of color and vibrancy to the language along with an extra dimension to the meaning of the poem. In the handouts that we were given, each writer has written an in-depth analysis of the poem. They seem to have reached deep within themselves to come to an understanding of the poem and what it means. I wonder why they had to look so hard.
Robert Frost created for us a wondrous view of the apple orchard. The imagery in the poem is extremely vivid and clear. I can close my eyes and see the apple orchard...
