The drug MDMA, also known as "Ecstasy", is found throughout the United States and Europe. The drug has gained popularity in the past 20 years because of its ability to produce a 'psychedelic euphoria' and the ability to connect with others, comfort, and empathy. Ecstasy usually comes in tablet form and is taken orally and rarely snorted. Ecstasy is connected with raves around the world.
Ecstasy has various effects on the body. There are some "positive" and negative effects from it. Some of the "positive" effects from Ecstasy are: extreme mood lift, increased willingness to communicate, feelings of comfort, belonging, and closeness to others, profound life-changing spiritual experiences, urge to hug and kiss people; the negative effects of Ecstasy are: inappropriate and/or unintended emotional bonding, mild to extreme jaw clenching, tongue and cheek chewing, and teeth grinding, short-term memory scramble or loss & confusion increase in body temperature, hyperthermia, dehydration hangover the next day, lasting days to weeks, mild depression and fatigue for up to a week, small risk of death.'
