The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is considered the United States Department of Agriculture’s in-house scientific research agency. Their main goal involves finding solutions effecting agricultural problems. The ARS protects crops and livestock afflicted by pestilence and disease, determine adequate nutrition for the life span of an individual, and provide valuable research to compare with other agencies. The ARS is involved in determining soil quality and other natural resources. By providing research support to other federal agencies, they prove to be a valuable organization. Research by the ARS has led them on many missions. By setting their standards high, hey set monumental goals to achieve. The information in studies provided by the ARS is extremely helpful to the USDA in determining which types of herbicides and other types of chemicals are safe in controlling insects.
