The Man Behind the Story
How does a fictional book character come into being? Where do the ideas that form his or her personality come from? Is it possible for a character to be a reflection of the author's dream or the author's life?
It is true that psychology can play an important role in fictional literature. An author may unintentionally create a character that represents his or her innermost aspirations. Sigmund Freud stated in
" The Dream-work" that "people have certain thoughts or wishes that they have repressed, but they remain present in their unconscious."
Writers are often unaware of the source of their ideas. The hero/heroine may be the representation of the person the author always wanted to be.

The character's attitudes and actions can be drawn out of the depths of the author's personality and his unconscious mind. We may see a re-enactment of childhood memories, conflicts, or his/her home life...
