1.1 Reaction Rate
A reaction is a response that is forced to respond to an unfamiliar influence or movement.
In most cases reactions occur whenever new substances with different properties are formed. A reaction can occur only when the particles of the reacting substances come in contact with one another. Some reactions occur extremely slowly compared to others. For example the fossilization of dinosaurs or other prehistoric animals may take millions of years where as the digestion of food by humans may take around three to five hours. The speed of a reaction is called the reaction rate. The slower the rate the longer it takes for the reaction to occur. A faster reaction rate means the reaction occurs more quickly.
