Global Warming is proving to be one of the most debatable topics that have been discussed in the recent past. There are two different, opposing views to this discussion. On the one side there is a pool of thought that global warming causes severe catastrophes that claim the lives of thousands or more every year. On the other side there are groups of people who think that global warming does not have any negative impacts on our planet and is infact beneficial for us as humans and for the planet's flora and fauna too. However, research proves that global warming poses a threat to our life and this planet for several reasons, two of them being: Firstly, it can cause catastrophic natural disasters that can lead to the displacement of human lives. Secondly, it can cause a shift in plant and animal habitats due to the shift of the grasslands.
Dixy Lee Ray, a former governor of Washington and a member of the board of advisers for the American Council on Science and Health, disagrees with the fact that global warming is becoming a global issue. According to Ray, 20 years ago global warming was not the issue but global cooling was! Ray also suggested that this climatic change would be a cyclic one and that a there is a likelihood of a "full-blown 10,000-year ice age!" as ice packs are rapidly building up because of snowfall that fails to melt over the winters(2)...
