White hoods, burning crosses, hangings, these are all signs of one of the most infamous organizations in US history. It is a group of white secret societies who openly, and sometimes violently oppose groups of people of different races, backgrounds, or religious beliefs. They believe that they are a political party, and their goal is to "Take back America" for white people, whom they believe are sacrificing their lives to those non-white. They believe that the country was founded as a white Christian nation and should be brought back to it (Sager).
People opposed to this group see it as a model for extremism combined with bigotry and violence. They describe this group as a hateful mixture of anti-Semitism, racism, and homophobia. The violence portrayed by the group is seen as a cowardly way to insight fear into the hearts of minorities, or non-whites. So how was this group started, what do they believe in, and how does it look today ("A Word To Congress").
