What challenges face people in late adulthood? ...
It is unavoidable that as people grow older, they will face many challenges along the way. The challenges differ with each stage of physical growth and mental maturing. These stages can be broken down into three categories, which are adolescence, adulthood and late adulthood. This essay will discuss and explain the challenges people face during the period of late adulthood, which starts when a person hits his or her early sixties, focusing on the challenges of retirement, physical deterioration, widowhood and the subject of death. ... In late adulthood, the physical appearance and health of a person are obvious to the public eye. External changes like the wrinkling of skin, receding and greying of hairlines and the trembling in voice when a late adult speaks are some of the more obvious signs (Blanchard-Fields & Cavanaugh, 2002).
