Our Future?
The society in which we live has been burning fossil fuels for decades. This has in part helped our technology to grow at an exponential rate and walked us through everyday life. However our need for this easily transported energy source has grown right along side our advances in technology. The fact of the matter is that the conversion of fossil fuels into energy is destroying the delicate ecological balance of our world. Not only are we destroying the Earth but also our supplies of fossil fuels are running out. To add to the problem we as Americans receive a majority of our oil from the oil producing nations of the world which lye within the Middle East. With increasing tensions escalating in that region and with some bureaucrats in our government yearning to become more independent, we are faced with the issue of taping into our own supply of oil. The majority of oil within our borders resides in Alaska. Here we have enough oil to last us 35 years of substituted oil from the Middle East however drilling there is a major concern of environmentalists...
