To our readers:
As I'm certain you all noticed, early this week the Imperial News Grid suffered an attack that changed the appearance of the Grid, and displayed certain articles that obviously were not the work of our staff. This breach in our security caught myself, the rest of the ING staff, and everyone connected to us by surprise, but we were quick to act.
We immediately contacted the Imperial Security Bureau and informed them of the digital attack. Working with the invaluable help of the ISB, we first set out to sweep our entire system and secure all outgoing and incoming traffic. Once we were certain the perpetrators were no longer present in the Grid, we began work on restoring the ING to nominal working order. This proved more difficult than we had anticipated, showing the persons involved had skilled slicers and technicians collaborating with them, and it resulted in the time--nearly a full standard day--it took to resolve the problem.
I was present in the public communication channels shortly after the change in the ING, and I would like to commend our readers for their diligence and critical thinking--the voices I saw speaking out about the incident realized that the "news" presented to them was not to be taken seriously. However, I also feel the need to dispel other opinions--specifically, that this was some form of joke put up by the ING staff. This perversion of our News Grid was a seditionist act, performed by people who wish to see our Empire, our way of life, fall. It must not be taken lightly...
