Dickens literary style can be interpreted in many different levels; this is because he seems to have a very complex style of writing.
He seems to have a very complex vocabulary and seems to use as many words as possible, although this may be explained by the fact that he was paid by the word. Although there is this factor it could easily be just his literary style. This particular area of his style may have been influenced by the fact that he was paid by the word though making it so that all of his later novels were written with this same amazing detail and only his earlier novels being artificially written in this way. The fact that he used a large vocabulary directly ties in with the fact that he used incredible amounts of detail. Such as the time when he describes the contents of the horse's nose bag after the death of Mr. Barkis. He goes into immense detail on almost every object and uses words such as "prismatic" showing that he also has a large and elaborate vocabulary. But his vocabulary may be explained by the fact that he was writing a long time ago and by today's standard all of the vocabulary that he uses could be seen as elaborate. As in today's world we use a much less elaborate vocabulary and less detail, this is not only in everyday life but also in modern author's books and novels, they use much less elaborate vocabulary...
