There are many different versions of Cinderella." by Anne Sexton is one of the many Cinderella related story written. Unlike most Cinderella stories, the themes in the poem focus on realism and hardships that represent the real life experiences of family life. The poem uses a lot of symbolization; Sexton uses the wicked stepmother as a symbol of evil. Within the poem, there are many different images to help describe the theme, such as the evil stepsisters, and the glass slippers.
Imagery in poetry is all words or phrases, which receives a response from one or more of the five senses. In this poem, there are many images that prompt the reader to use their visual senses. In most fairy tales, there are certain characters that usually portray different images.
