A Mothers Gift I think A Mothers Gift is a great book and it makes you realize that looks and money aren’t important. It teaches you not to be ashamed of where you come from and to be proud of your family, no matter what they look like or social status because they will always love you and that’s all that really matters in life. Holly Faye Lovell is the main character. Holly is a sweet girl who is raised by her mom in the small town of Biscay, Mississippi. Holly was the lead singer of her church choir and she always dreamed of going to the classy Harverty School of Music where all the rich kids went. She sent in an audition tape and was the youngest student to ever receive a full scholarship in the history of the school. After she got there she felt out of place because everyone had nicer things because they were rich unlike Holly, her mom home made her clothes.
