Essay #1
Did you know that there are over 500,000 children in the United States who have been removed from their homes due to neglect and abuse, and placed in the foster care system? These children have had their confidence and self-worth destroyed and even more devastating have experienced the loss of family and identity, leaving them searching for a sense of belonging. There are many more children in need of temporary care than there are foster parents available. To help fill the gap states are looking for people who want to help children and can share their time, homes, and love.
Every state has its own rules about foster parenting. However, the chances are good that you can be a foster parent in your state.
In every state you will have to complete an application, agree to a background check, drug testing, criminal history check, have a home inspection and personal interview, meet state and/or local licensing requirements and be at least 21 years old.
Child agencies are eager to sign you up and why not, the bigger the caseload the bigger the budget and you are to be the saints and angles protecting the children.
Good foster parents make a point to become knowledgeable about their foster children...
