What is a dancer? Dancers dance alone, with partners or in a group to entertain audiences. They perform classical, modern, or acrobatic dances that tell a story, or express ideas. This is what I want to do in my future. I want to be the best dancer I can be and pursue my dreams and goals in life. Dancing is a very strenuous activity. Dancers have to give it their all, 24/7. The rehearsals are long and require many hours a day. Many performances are around holidays which means less time for family. By choosing this career dancers have to make many sacrifices. With the demands of practices it leaves little time for leisure activities. The normal workweek for a dancer is thirty- forty hours which include rehearsals and performances. The earnings vary, but aren’t high for most dancers. Minimum weekly pay for dancers in a ballet and modern productions is around $610 a week.
