Bob Dylan was born on May 24th, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota. Bob’s original name is Robert Allen Zimmerman. Bob started writing poems when he was 10 years old, Bob also taught himself to play the piano and the guitar. Bob’s influences were Elvis Pressley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Hank Williams, Robert Johnson, and Woody Guthrie.
When Bob graduated high school he went to the University of Minnesota in 1959. Bob got tired of school and started playing in local coffee houses, and this is when he started using his stage name Bob Dylan. In 1960 Bob dropped out of college and made his way to New York City. ...
In 1961 Bob was offered a recording contract with Columbia Records, and he recorded his first album with was called “ Bob Dylan,” the album was not what he wanted it to be because he did not play any of his own music, he played traditional folk songs.
