MacBeth-
The first impression Macbeth gives in the play is the impression of a competent and brave warrior. When viewing Macbeth's interaction with the three witches his courage, and ambition is shown. His tendency of self-doubt is also evident. The witches' prediction that Macbeth brings him joy, but it also creates an internal struggle within Macbeth. Throughout the play Macbeth's characteristics of heroism, ambition, and self-doubt compete for control of Macbeth. Shakespeare demonstrates the negative effects that aspiration and guilt has on a person who does not possess a strong character. Though Macbeth is a great warrior he is not equipped for the psychological consequences of his crime. Lady Macbeth even has to push Macbeth to kill Duncan because he is so bothered by anxiety. After the murder Macbeth grows paranoid and plots series of murders to protect his throne. Macbeth's mood changes often...
